It is good to know that there are a few willing to do something about this!
But we need more people!
Even about 50 people is a good start! Come on people... spare a few minutes and take part in this protest!
Don't go on with your lives as if nothing happened and don't think that nothing will happen!
Most of us come from the land of Gandhiji... most of us have forgotten what that one little man achieved! But the fact is he couldn't have achieved everything that he did if the people of India didn't believe!
So start to believe people! You can make a difference!

I'm in pretty much in the same boat as some of the other posters here. I don't have a valid H1b in my passport, I-140/I-485 is pending. EAD/AP is approved. My landing visa for Canada expires in May.
Has anyone tried landing and returning to the U.S. while on pending I-485 by utilizing their AP yet? Any issues? I expect my POE to be Chicago. Any information would be much appreciated.
This is driving me nuts. I really *really* don't want to abandon the Canada option, but the information I've come across on the forums have left me very apprehensive. Totally agreed that quota increase is controversial and an alternative approach must be agreed upon - 1932, CIR and now SKIL has taught us that bitter lesson. I am not by any means questioning the wisdom of going after the low-hanging fruits like 485 filing etc. All I am saying is - we cannot assume everything else remains the same. Things like 485 filing etc are our niche goals - no corporate interest is served by that and in a brutally capitalistic country thats a huge disadvantage.The fact is ANY relief, whether it includes quota increase or not, still takes a lot of lobbying and money to introduce all on its own strength.Yours and mine promotion/career prospects are the least of the lawmakers' worries, however non-controversial it may be and however deserving we may be. The need of the hour is to increase our membership base and contributions - lets face it, 200k in funds is not going to get us too far on our own steam. If 6000 of us could achieve so much in an year, imagine what 100k will do. That way we will be a credible enough force to be heard and respected. It still beats me how we have only 6000 odd members despite the dire situation that the majority of EB applicants find themselves in since 2001.
Most of the time we have to search for bills to attach our provisions anyways. The only problem is that right now all our provisions are either being labeled as "quota increase" or are being attached to "Quota Increase" bills. Try and remember S-1932, CIR and SKIL. AILA will always be after H1 Increase and so will Big Corps. Only this time instead of seperating ourselves as "EB only" we try to piggyback on either "Quota increase" bills OR we try and piggyback on just about ANY bill we can piggyback onto. Most of the times weird bills get combined (S1932 for example).
If 2006 has taught us anything it should be "Do NOT try and increase quotas and numbers". For starters it takes TOO long to do and there is MUCH more opposition from even the average American. Remember the IV Core telling us how the Anti-immigrant calls far outnumbered our calls during the Recent SKIL bill? Guys even the biggest Corps have been unsuccessful in getting Visa number increases. Do we honestly believe that with 6,000 members who are NOT a voting base (and may never be) + the lack of funds, we are going to do what these big guns have not been able to accomplish? People are so 'adjusted' to standing in the queue, they want to make the queue permanent for themselves, as well as others. Reminds me of a story where a gentleman asked for a boon from God to turn him 'blind in one eye' so that his neighbor, who asked God that he be given twice the first one asked, will be blind in both eyes!
What does ending 'Retrogression' have to do with PDs? If retrogression ends, it means everyone will get GC in 6 months to a year. Even those with earlier PDs benefit along with newer PDs. No one's left out (except for FBI name check which doesn't honor PD now anyways!). I can't understand why people have problem with that, when they have equal chances of getting Permanent along with others.

PD is comparable to Jail system to keep people locked up ( 'your time to get out has not come yet'). Making dates current is freeing everyone from this Jail together. But some people don't want it to happen. Arguments such as 'I spent 6-7 years waiting, others should also wait' is immature and childish. I can understand 5 year tots making such kiddish demands. It's sad to see mature grownups acting such childish manner. Some people have become adjusted so much to 'Retrogression System Jail' they never want it to end , like the way Mr. Red ( Morgan Freeman) is scared of leaving the jail in the 'Shawshank Redemption', as life without the jail (Retrogression) scares them!
There is a medical term to describe this mental condition 'Crab Mentality', which is often used to describe Alcoholics and Drug Addicts. Try to lift one single crab from a vessel full of crabs, other crabs will try their best to pull that one back. Same mentality is at play here - if I don't get it nobody else should get it. Don't you guys feel shamed to act so self-centered and selfish like crabs?
This is my last post on the subject. I've better things to do ( my chapter meeting, IV action items etc.) than waste time arguing with arm-chair pundits.
You must be one of those who is retrogressed and is hoping that somehow the Government will remove retrogression and you will be one of the lucky few who will magically slime through while there are others who were way ahead of you in the queue still waiting. Therefore I understand your anger whenever someone talks about honouring queues. It is human psychology. When we are at the beginning of a queue, we prefer that queues are honored and we are at the end of the queue, we wish we could somehow get to the beginning. There is no rocket science involved here. You are human too.

I was happy as I thought I'll be receive EAD soon since I did FP. Oh Well. I'm currently on H4 and have been out of work since last Dec and its becoming very hard living on one salary.

My AP's receipt date at TSC was 6/30. It was approved on 7/13 and I have received APs from attorney last week. BTW, my EAD/APs were sent to NSC on 6/15 but only AP was forwrded to TSC and I got receipt date as 6/30 from TSC. So it took 4 weeks including forward time from NSC to TSC

Honestly i dont think any one person should "organize" it. If something goes wrong, then organizer will be held which is un-necessary trouble for some one wanting to do good!

I received my I-485/EAD/AP receipt notices from NSC, our company attorney filed petitions on august 07th 2007, USCIS receipt notice date is 09/14/2007 and attorney received receipt notices on 09/24/2007.
I am waiting for my copies, but tracking it online using the LIN numbers.
My I-140 pending at TSC on july 13th 2007, LUD on 08/12/2007 but no action after that.
I-485/EAD/AP LUD on 09/18/2007
